Politics on Dan Patch Avenue: House Reps Take On the State Fair

This weekend, Rep. David Bly and a number of his colleagues will be at the fair to mingle with voters.

It's that time again. The Great Minnesota Get-together is here, and for Minnesota's political class that means one thing: Time to chew the fat with prospective voters and constituents.

To that end, Northfield Rep. David Bly (DFL) will make himself available this Saturday at the House of Representatives State Fair booth. Bly will be at the booth from 10 a.m. to noon, along with colleague Rep. Lyndon Carlson, Sr. (DFL-Crystal).

Fairgoers who stop by the House booth will also be asked to participate in its annual opinion poll, which typically surveys at least 10,000 Minnesotans during the fair. This year, the poll will touch on a number of hot button issues, such as increasing Minnesota’s minimum wage, legalizing medical marijuana, gun control and tightening regulations on dog and cat breeders. Poll results will be available via the House website on Sept. 3.
