Joe Gasior Files for Northfield City Council At-Large Seat

Joe Gasior has filed for the at-large seat up in this year's election.

Gasior, who finished second in a four-person special election race for an at-large council position in 2008, which was won by Councilor Rhonda Pownell, is the second candidate to file for this seat. David Ludescher has also filed for the at-large position.

It makes for an interesting rematch between Gasior and Ludescher. They were two of who stepped forward late last year to replace retiring Councilor Kris Vohs.

was selected out of the nine candidates. Imm was picked in favor of Gasior with a 4-2 vote from councilors. 

Gasior told Patch in December that he was already considering a run for the council in 2012.

“I think being involved in your community is important, regardless of what role you end up filling in or choosing to do," said Gasior, who is involved in the Boy Scouts and was part of the board that selected the site for the new .

We also know one current member of the council won't run again—Mayor Mary Rossing on Tuesday said she will not seek re-election.

Northfield offices up in this year's election cycle are mayor, the Second Ward seat, the Third Ward seat and an at-large seat, all of which are four-year terms.

Filing for the 2012 municipal and county elections runs through 5 p.m. June 5.

Candidates can file an Affidavit of Candidacy with the city clerk at  801 Washington St.
