In PAC Ad, Dakota Co. Mom Calls John Kline's Student Loan Plan 'Just Plain Stupid'

'I don't know that there's ever been a better opportunity to work towards a real bipartisan solution,' the congressman representing Northfield said.

The House Majority PAC, a group focused on helping Democrats win seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, has created a 30-second audio ad targeting U.S. Rep. John Kline (R-MN2) over his student loan plan.

The PAC issued the following statement in a press release last week:

“Minnesota families are struggling to afford skyrocketing college costs and John Kline’s solution is to more than double student loan rates,” said Andy Stone, Communications Director for House Majority PAC. “No question, that’s the wrong fix but because of John Kline the fix is in for the students and families who will pay the price.”

The ad will air in Minnesota's Second Congressional District on Pandora, the popular Internet radio service.

Meanwhile, Kline maintains that his plan keeps student loan interest rates from doubling on July 1. At a press conference this morning, Kline placed blame on President Obama for the lack of a student loan interest rate solution:

"I’ve been here a little more than 10 years. I don’t know that there’s ever been a better opportunity to work towards a real bipartisan solution. When you have the White House come out with a proposal and the House of Representatives come out with a proposal, clearly we have [common] ground that we can work with, but what did we get? We got a threat of a veto from this President. Instead of providing the leadership that we need to see and getting the Senate to take action, we got a veto threat."
