House District 20B Gets GOP Candidate

There are now four candidates—three DFLers—vying to represent House District 20B.

Wheatland Township resident Rita' Hillmann Olson has entered the House District 20B race as a GOP candidate, according to the Northfield News.

She is a former chair of the Rice County GOP and served two terms on Gov. Tim Pawlenty's Third District Judical Selection Committee, the paper reports.

Olson is the fourth candidate—and first Republican—to step forward to represent the new House District 20B, which is .

With redistricting last month, Northfield moves from its current House District 25B to 20B. Rep. Kelby Woodard, a Republican from Belle Plaine who currently represents Northfield, is now part of District 20A.

Three DFL candidates have stepped forward for their party's support in the 2012 election. They include former representative, , Northfield City Councilor , and former Montgomery mayor, .

A Senate District 20 DFL convention to select a candidate is scheduled for April, though a specific date is not set.

District 20B includes Rice County's Bridgewater Township, Dennison, Dundas, Erin Township, Forest Township, Lonsdale, Northfield, Northfield Township, Shieldsville Township, Webster Township and Wheatland Township, as well as Le Sueur County's Cordova Township, Heidelberg, Kilkenny, Kilkenny Township, Lanesburgh Township, Montgomery, Montgomery Township.
