Cuckolded Cop Found Guilty of Assaulting Northfield Police Officer

The Bloomington police officer was found guilty Monday of fifth-degree assault, a misdemeanor charge smaller than what prosecutors hoped to pin on him.

A former Bloomington police officer, Jared Michael Grant Taylor, 34, was convicted Monday of assaulting a Northfield police officer who is now dating his wife.

Taylor's wife invited the Northfield cop, Blaine Anderson, into her home in August 2012. Taylor told police he thought Anderson was an intruder and he tackled and attempted to subdue him in self-defense. Taylor and his wife are now in the process of divorcing and his wife is dating Anderson.

Taylor was convicted of fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanor charges, by a Rice County jury on Monday, the Northfield News is reporting. Taylor was found not guilty of third-degree assault, a felony, and third-degree damage to property, a gross misdemeanor.

Scott County prosecutor Ron Hocevar argued that the attack was a type of revenge and that Taylor had been “hunting” his wife in search of evidence to use in divorce proceedings, the paper reported.

Taylor will be sentenced on May 21 to a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
