  • set Oct. 23 as a tentative date to select a candidate to replace Councilor Patrick Ganey, who resigned from his Ward 4 seat. The city will need to put out an application for potential candidates, have the council interview candidates and then select a candidate to fill the vacancy. The councilor-to-be will fill the seat through the end of 2013. A special election will be held in November 2013 to fill the seat for the final year of Ganey's four-year term.
  • favored a partnership approach for the Convention and Visitors Bureau that would have the city "maintain control of the finances generated from lodging taxes, and the CVB Board of Directors would report directly to the City Council."
  • discussed the Northfield Fire Department roadmap and likelihood of several firefighters retiring.
