Commission Seeks Input from Northfield Residents on Congressional Redistricting

Resident input and testimony can be given 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Northfield Senior Center.

Draw the Line Minnesota has announced the creation of a Minnesota Citizens Redistricting Commission that will be creating maps to share with Minnesota’s judicial redistricting panel.

The Commission will be taking resident input and testimony in locations across Minnesota during the month of August. Northfield is hosting the 2nd Congressional District’s hearing 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at the . A Spanish language interpreter will be present at the hearing.

Residents across the 2nd District are invited to participate as the 15-member multi-partisan and non-partisan group gathers input.

Draw the Line Minnesota is a joint project of the League of Women Voters Minnesota, the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, the Midwest Democracy Network, and other partners who are committed to a high level of accountability and complete transparency. In the vital democratic process of redistricting, responsible citizen engagement is paramount. The Commission states that it is committed to listening to all viewpoints and drawing maps with integrity.
