City Sees Increase in Water Demands

Water demand is not yet at critial levels, but it is high enough to cause the city concern.

Despite in June, the city is now experiencing increased potable water demand.

The dry weather since the flooding is forcing residents to use more water on their lawns and gardens, according to the city's website.

According to the City Code, Chapter 82, Section 82-76, City Administrator Tim Madigan is authorized to restrict hours of use for sprinkling, irrigation, car washing, air conditioning or other uses.

Because of this residents are asked to be mindful of their water use, and to avoid watering during the heat of the day when most of the water simply evaporates, according to the city's website.

The Water Department staff will continue to monitor demand and storage tank levels, and will take appropriate measures when and if the time comes.
