Calling All Northfield Sophomores!

Apply to be on the Northfield Mayor's Youth Council for 2011-12

Current high school sophomores are encouraged to apply for a position on the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) for 2011-12. Download and complete a MYC application by April 28!

Formed in 2006, the Mayor’s Youth Council consists of 13-15 Northfield youth in grades 11 and 12. The council meets year-round and has as its primary aims to:

  • Assist with the identification of issues important to Northfield young people
  • Provide youth perspectives on relevant issues to the Mayor of Northfield, Northfield City Council, and other local groups
  • Work with community partners and other youth initiatives to help design and implement solutions to address opportunities and areas of concern (this is an action group!)

For more information on the MYC and its past projects, check out the MYC informational brochure.

The Mayor, the current Mayor’s Youth Council members, and the City Council review completed applications and assemble a diverse group.  The 13-15 members of the Mayor’s Youth Council for 2011-12 will be officially appointed at a City Council meeting in late May;  all applicants will be notified about the decisions shortly thereafter.
