Two Northfield Men Arrested in Minneapolis for Heroin Possession

Kyle Phillip Heckers and Justin Walter Lindgren, already facing charges in Rice County, were arrested in Minneapolis and charged with felony drug possession.

Two Northfield men, both of them already facing felony charges in Rice County, have been charged with possession of heroin in Minneapolis.   

Kyle Phillip Heckers, 29, and Justin Walter Lindgren, 30, are each charged with fifth-degree drug possession, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The charge carries a mandatory minimum penalty of a $3,000 fine.

Minneapolis Police were called to the parking lot of Cub Foods at 701 W. Broadway on Dec. 7 when someone reported seeing two men sitting in a minivan using drugs, according to the criminal complaint, signed by Minneapolis Police Sgt. Steven Mosey.

When police arrived, they found Heckers and Lindgren in the minivan. As an officer approached the van, he saw Lindgren remove a syringe from his arm, according to the complaint.

Police found a spoon with heroin residue on it and a syringe containing 20 cc of a liquid that later tested positive for heroin, the complaint charges.

Heckers was arrested in Northfield on Oct. 10 while driving with Danielle Elizabeth Bergson of Northfield. Both Heckers and Bergson were arrested and charged with fifth-degree drug possession.

Heckers has been released from the Hennepin County Jail on a $3,000 bond. Lindgren was released from Hennepin County custody and transported to the jail in Rice County, where he is facing outstanding charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and four counts of second-degree burglary.

Omnibus hearings for both men are scheduled for Feb. 5 in Hennepin County District Court.
