Three Charged With Selling Heroin in Northfield

The Rice County Drug Task Force conducted 15 controlled buys from the three starting in September, according to the criminal complaint filed in Rice County District Court.

Three area residents were charged in Rice County District Court on Thursday with selling heroin and suboxone pills in and around Northfield.

The Rice County Drug Task Force conducted 15 controlled buys from Kevin Michael Reineke, Terri Lee Kalina and Bryce James Halverson since September, according to the criminal complaint filed in Rice County District Court.

The charges say nine of the buys happened at the car wash parking lot; five purchases happened outside the Big Steer on Interstate 35 and one purchase happened in the parking lot.

Police arrested Reineke and Kalina at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Casey's parking lot as they allegedly sold heroin to undercover agents. Halverson was arrested later that night.

Reineke, 22 of Dundas, faces three charges that carry a maximum penalty of 83 years in prison and/or $1.02 millions in fines.

Kalina, 22 of Kenyon, faces two charges that carry a maximum penalty of 80 years in prison and/or $1 million in fines.

Halverson, 27 of Lonsdale, faces three charges and a maximum penalty of 83 years in prison and/or $1.02 million in fines.

All three have been previously charged with drug-related crimes and are currently on probation.

According to investigators, during the two-month investigation, Reineke sold a total of 132.5 suboxone pills and 11.2 grams of heroin (with packaging), Kalina aided and abetted the sale of 82.5 suboxone pills and 9.0 grams of heroin (with packaging), and Halverson aided and abetted the sale of 60 suboxone pills and 4.7 grams of heroin (with packaging).

Suboxone pills are used primarily to treat heroin or other opiate addiction.

Reineke was also charged on Thursday with selling marijuana and part of a fetanyl patch to undercover agents last year while living at Greenvale Place Apartments. On Tuesday, the Rice County Drug Task Force arrested several people after a 16-month investigation of drugs being dealt at the apartment complex.
