UPDATE: At Least Five People Injured in Thursday's Crash South of Northfield

Three children from Hudson, WI were among the injured.

UPDATE 4:20 P.M. FRIDAY: At least five people were hurt in Thursday's three-vehicle crash on Highway 3 south of Northfield.

According to an updated incident report from the Minnesota State Patrol released at 3:46 p.m. Friday, three of the injured people were children.

Angela R. Hall, 40, of Hudson, WI was seriously injured in the crash, which closed Highway 3 near the turnoff to the Rice County landfill for several hours. She was the driver of a 2002 Ford Focus northbound on Highway 3 that collided with another northbound vehicle, then struck a southbound vehicle head on.

Three children in Hall's car—Olivia Hall, 10, Elie M. Hall, 8; and Caleb Hall, 6; all of Hudson—suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the southbound vehicle—Kit C. Woo, 62, of Faribault—also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

It was not clear whether the sixth person involved in the crash—Todd M. Hullett, 48, of Faribault, who was driving a 2002 Ford pickup northbound and collided with the Hall vehicle—was injured. His physical condition was listed as "not documented" on the state patrol report.

UPDATE 5:45 P.M. THURSDAY:
The Minnesota State Patrol has released more details about Thursday's afternoon crash on Highway 3 south of Northfield.

According to the state patrol incident report updated at 5:20 p.m., a 2002 Ford pickup truck driven by Todd Hullett, 48, of Faribault, and a 2002 Ford Focus driven by Angela Hall, 40, of Hudson, WI, were northbound on Highway 3 when the vehicles collided. The Focus then collided head on with a southbound 1998 Dodge minivan driven by Kit Woo, 62, of Faribault.

Hall was seriously injured, according to the report. Woo suffered "non-life threatening" injuries. Hullett's physical condition was listed as "not documented."

The state patrol's report is listed as being "not complete."

UPDATE 4 P.M. THURSDAY:
The Minnesota State Patrol says three vehicles, not two, were involved in Thursday's crash on Highway 3 south of Northfield.

Few details of the crash were listed on the state patrol's initial incident report, released at 3:39 p.m. The report classified the incident as "serious injury."

The Rice County Sheriff's Department is assisting the state patrol in the investigation.

The initial scanner alert for the crash said two vehicles were involved.

UPDATE 3:40 P.M. THURSDAY:
Thursday afternoon's crash on Highway 3 south of 145th Street involved a minivan and a sedan. The minivan, which appeared to be heading northbound on Highway 3, had a collapsed front end. At least one person was trapped inside the sedan.

Northfield Fire and Northfield Hospital EMS were alerted to the crash at about 2 p.m. When those units arrived, Rice County Sheriff deputies and crews from the Minnesota Department of Transportation already were on the scene.

Two MnDOT pickup trucks blocked southbound traffic on Highway 3 at 145th Street.

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. THURSDAY:
Rescue crews worked for roughly an hour to free at least one victim from the wreckage of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 3 south of Dundas Thursday afternoon.

At least three people were hurt in the 2 p.m. crash, just south of the turnoff to the Rice County landfill. One of those injured were taken to the hospital by air ambulance, while two were transported by Northfield Fire and Northfield Hospital EMS ambulances.

A second medical helicopter appeared to be prepared to fly another of the injured to the hospital.

ORIGINAL STORY: At least two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 3 south of 145th Street, south of Northfield, on Thursday afternoon.

Northfield Fire and Northfield Hospital EMS units were on the scene of the crash, which was reported around 2 p.m. Thursday. The scanner alert was for a two-vehicle crash with possible entrapment.

Rescue units from Faribault, as well as Rice County Sheriff deputies and the Minnesota State Patrol, also were on the scene.

A medical helicopter flew to the scene, but it had yet to lift off at the time of this report.

Minnesota Department of Transportation pickup trucks blocked southbound traffic on Highway 3. Traffic was directed onto westbound 145th Street.
