Northfield Man Charged With Heroin Possession

Andrew Allen Heidemann, 27, of Northfield, was formally charged Monday with fifth-degree heroin possession, DWI, possession of marijuana and driving after revocation.

Andrew Allen Heidemann said he stopped at the Big Steer early Sunday morning for some cigarettes and doughnuts.

Around 2:50 a.m. he was found by a Rice County deputy apparently asleep in a vehicle in the parking lot and was arrested and brought to Rice County Jail for heroin possession.

Heidemann, 27, of Northfield, was formally charged Monday with fifth-degree heroin possession, DWI, possession of marijuana and driving after license revocation. The most serious crime—the felony possession charge—carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Rice County District Court:

The deputy first saw the idle car about 2:30 a.m. as he drove by to another call. On his way back by 20 minutes later, he noticed the car was still there, engine running and headlights on.

The deputy woke Heidemann and noticed his pupils were constricted.

Heidemann told the deputy he had taken Adderall and suboxone, a narcotic analgesic used primarily to treat heroin or other opiate addiction. He told the deputy that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day (Saturday) and said there was heroin in the car, which later was weighed at 0.3 grams (weighed with packaging).

Heidemann said he had purchased the heroin and marijuana two days earlier and had relapsed and used the heroin twice the day before, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. He said he also took two suboxone pills that day.

Heidemann was convicted of a four-degree drug charge in 2009.

Last week, with dealing heroin in Northfield and another man was r for allegedly supplying heroin to a Northfield man who later died from overdosing on the drug.
