The officer noticed recent injection marks on Bartok’s arm, the complaint says, and requested a trooper from the Minnesota State Patrol who is a drug recognition expert to assist on the stop.

Bartok told the trooper she was a recreational heroin user and attempted to use heroin earlier that day, the complaint reads.

Police found three hypodermic needles (one appeared to be used), a silver spoon and a silver digital scale in Bartok’s purse, according to the complaint.

Bartok was released on her own recognizance with conditions including not to drink alcohol, be in possession of drugs and to submit to a chemical test. Her next court appearance is March 28.
