Northfield Police Issue City's Second Social Host Ordinance Citation

The maximum penalty for violating the social host ordinance is 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Northfield police have issued the city’s second citation for violating the Social Host ordinance.

The ordinance, which went into law in April in Northfield, makes it illegal to knowingly provide a place for underage drinking.

Deputy Police Chief Chuck Walerius said police arrived at 11:16 p.m. Saturday to a home on the 600 block of Hayes Drive where a party was allegedly being held. Walerius said only one person was left at the home.

Walerius said a 20-year-old who hosted the party for his birthday was tracked down Sunday and cited for a social host violation. At the time of this article being published police hadn't release the name of the individual cited.

Last month, 18-year-old Atticus Christensen was the first Northfielder to be cited for a social host violation. Five others were cited for underage consumption.
