MOM Brands Plant Damaged in Morning Fire
Northfield Fire Chief Gerry Franek estimates between $75,000 and $100,000 in damage occurred. The plant also lost production time.
A at ’ production facility caused as much as $100,000 in damage at the plant, said Northfield Fire Chief Gerry Franek.
Residue in duct work and a long chimney near the plant’s toaster-puffer ignited, damaging the duct, as well ceiling and a fan on the roof of the Highway 19 plant.
“Right now, we’re looking at between $75,000 and $100,000,” said Franek. “The plant also lost production time, which is probably more expensive than the property damage.”

Northfield firefighters responded to the fire shortly before 10:30 a.m. and were on the scene for 1-3/4 hours, Franek said.
Northfield Police and Minnesota State Patrol units blocked traffic on Highway 19 in front of the plant for a little more than an hour. Drivers were rerouted to neighborhood streets.

No injuries were reported, Franek said.
