Lakeville Man Dies from Injuries Suffered in Crash During Outlaw Run

The Minnesota State Patrol says Dustin J. Rahier, 38, was popping wheelies on his motorcycle before Saturday's crash.

A Lakeville man who was seriously injured in a crash during Saturday’s Outlaw Run motorcycle fundraising event has died from his injuries.

A death notice for Dustin Rahier, 38, appeared Sunday on the White Funeral Home website.

The crash happened shortly before noon Saturday on Highway 50 near Holt Avenue in New Trier, says the Minnesota State Patrol.

According to a state patrol incident report, Rahier was popping wheelies on his motorcycle while heading eastbound on Highway 50. When traffic in front of him slowed, he braked hard on his motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to roll.

In its sixth year, the Outlaw Run raises money for the historical society’s youth programs. More than 200 people took part in this year's event.

Northfield Historical Society Executive Director Hayes Scriven told the Northfield News that two emergency medical technicians assisting with the event treated Rahier until emergency responders arrived on the scene. Rahier then was airlifted to the hospital.

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Department is assisting the state patrol in its investigation, according to the incident report.

Dustin Jay Rahier, age 38 of Lakeville passed away on August 10, 2013 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Survived by parents Janice and Fred Rahier; fiancée Kate Rizo and her sons Brandon and Chase; siblings Kevin (Carrie), Lisa (Daryl) Vis, Shellie (Frank) Hicks, Shelia (Rick) Roberson, Fred (Annie) and Wenda (Tim) Culpepper; Also by many loving relatives and friends. Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, 7pm, August 14, 2013 at White Funeral Home, 20134 Kenwood Trail. Gathering of family and friends starting at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
