The Twin Cities is home to some great eats. We've compiled a list of places local foodies can check out, whether to learn how to cook or just grab some grub. The best part? You only need a tank of gas (or less) to get there.
Food Trucks

Why Go? Have you ever wished you just a had a map of the best local food trucks? Look no further.
Insider Tip: St. Paul food trucks tend to roam between different but regular locations. There are three designated “food truck courts,” active on different days.
Must Do: Concerned about the safety of your food? Well, operating trucks must be licensed and should be kept sanitary. If you're concerned, ask to see the license.
The Fine Print: The world of food trucks is always well, rolling. Whether you're interested in cupcakes on the go or some Chinese, be sure to verify that the truck is still in business by visiting its website.

Why Go? Go DIY. Sweet Chocolat offers eight different flavors, with more than 8,000 different shapes to choose from. It also carries a variety of chocolate-covered nuts, fruits, caramels and toffee.

Must Do: The shop has open houses periodically, so check out its Facebook page for more information.
The Fine Print: Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. However, hours change seasonally.

Why Go? Want to get a taste of the world, without leaving the Twin Cities? The Taste Twin Cities Ethnic Market Tour is a four-hour guided tour to three local ethnic markets—Asian, Middle Eastern and Mexican.
Insider Tip: The tour is limited to 30 people and advance registration is required.
Must Do: Free time will be available to shop at each market and explore unique ingredients.
The Fine Print: The tour is $58 per person and includes a buffet lunch with beverages and tastings at each market. The tours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, Feb. 1 and March 1. If you have questions, such as how much walking is involved (you walk a good portion of the time, but there are places to rest) and whether children are welcome (they are), be sure to visit the FAQ section of the website.
Poplar Hill Dairy Goat Farm

Why Go? The farm is Minnesota's oldest Grade A dairy goat farm and offers goat cheese, fresh goat milk, goat milk soap, guided farm tours, dairy goats and goat-related items for sale.
Insider Tip: The farm can bring its goats to you. Call or email them to schedule a visit.
Must Do: Poplar Hill has a herd of approximately 600 goats and if you'd like to get up close and personal, you can feed and milk them.
