Three of My Favorite Business Books

Learn what three little business books are my favorite and how they might impact your business!

Although I must have hundreds of books in my business library, I have a few favorites that stand out as great tools.

Business Plan in a Day by Rhonda Abrams is THE BEST beginning business plan book I’ve ever found.  It is a workbook that outlines the basics; yet at the same time, it gives you just enough information and examples to make it easy to understand. The whole “In a Day” thing is pushing it a little-but surprisingly it is possible if you’ve done some research and have your financials pulled together. If you've been putting off writing that business plan-get this book and get started. I promise it'll help make the process more pain free. I love this book so much that I’m going to be teaching a workshop this winter in Northfield using this book. Stay tuned for more information!

Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable by Seth Godin.  Anything by the marketing Guru Seth Godin is fantastic and a fast read.  This book helps illustrate that to be successful in business, you have to stand out.  It gives great examples and illustrations on how businesses have used the concept of being remarkable.  It’s a small little book that packs a big marketing punch.

Strengthsfinder 2.0 by Tom Rath isn’t a typical business book, but the assessment inside is perfect for business owners.  The book asks a simple question- “Do you have the opportunity to do what you do best EVERY day?”  What would happen to your business if you understood what you were really good at and then did more of that instead of fighting at doing the things you aren’t good at?  “Strengthsfinder 2.0” is a proven tool for you to understand your top 5 strengths (out of 34).  You can take the assessment and read the book in one sitting- but believe me, what you will learn about yourself will impact your life and your business.
