Nonprofits in Northfield—Use it or Lose it!

A great grant resource is available to local nonprofits.

Did you know that the has access to a searchable database of Minnesota grant opportunities?  Well, we have it NOW...but due to lack of interest, we may lose it.

What it does:  The Minnesota Grantmakers Database has more than 1400 foundations and corporate grant makers included in the database, as well as over 100,000 possible grants of $2000 or more. This tool is only available on the computer in the Business and Employment area of the Northfield Public Library. This database is THE electronic resource for researching grants and grant makers in Minnesota and is maintained by the Minnesota Council of Foundations.

What you can do:  People are free to stop by at their convenience and talk to anyone on the Adult Services desk to help them log on to the database.  The hours of the library are:  Monday through Thursday 9:30am to 8:00pm, Friday 9:30am to 5:30pm, and Saturday from 9:30am to 5:00pm.  If you would like additional assistance with this database- a short tutorial- it is best to call ahead and make an appointment with Jamie Stanley as she is part-time at the library.

Jamie also notes that the library is very open to suggestions about how they can assist organizations in the community with their information needs.  I've worked with Jamie in the past to get several books that I recommend to NEC clients purchased for checkout at the library.  She's fantastic and has many years of experience as a business librarian.

But note, the Minnesota Grantmakers Database subscription is up for renewal, and because there has been limited use of the database, the library may choose not to renew it. So stop by the Northfield Public Library today and take advantage of this great resource!
