5 Ways You Can Use (Preferably Not Abuse) SPUR’s Interns

The benefits of working in an office space exceed the benefits of working out-of-your-house or in that-coffee-shop-down-the-street by a milestone. Not only does job satisfaction improve, but co-workers generally experience networking opportunities, build meaningful relationships with other co-workers, and enjoy a greater sense of community. With the beautiful space, individual desks, a small kitchen, and a large conference room, SPUR has more to offer than just an awesome place to work. SPUR has interns. Interns that any member can utilize at any time.

The great thing about having interns is having the ability to delegate menial, relatively time consuming tasks to someone who can get the job done at no extra cost to you. And, you don’t even have to feel guilty about it! Interns want the experience. They want to be able to build up their resume. And, they especially want to obtain those workplace skills that can only be learned through experience! With that in mind, here are some ways you can use (preferably not abuse) SPUR’s interns:

Interns are extremely tech savvy.

Because a majority of our interns are either college students or high school students, that means they are fully versed in internet lingo and can quickly navigate through any social media website. Not only that, but they have a proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a variety of other programs that (let’s be honest) would take you hours to figure out. Not exactly sure what a Facebook status is? Don’t worry, the interns do, considering they update their own personal status daily.

Interns are research gurus.

They do it for school, and they can do it for you. What might take you a couple of hours to look up on google, an intern could probably do it in a matter of minutes. Need an intern to do a little market research? Perhaps looking up your competitors products and making a comparative list of average prices? No problem.

Interns love writing and editing.

Interns have demonstrated their willingness to create blog posts for SPUR. They also work on projects that might include writing a presentation, speeches, emails, invitations, thank you notes, etc. They also are more than capable at looking over a post that you might want to publish or an email that you want to send out to clients.

Interns enjoy taking on miscellaneous projects, even if it’s a challenge.

Since working here, interns have been assigned a myriad of project assignments from members that sometimes involve creating content calendars to constructing templates for members in excel. If there is something that you absolutely need to delegate to an intern, don’t worry! They’ve seen a large variety of projects and have completed them with enthusiasm and efficiency. If they don’t know exactly how to complete a project for you, you can be assured they will figure it out really fast. Interns want to build a variety of skills while working at SPUR. Give them a chance and those learned skills can help out your business.

Interns take pride in their cleaning abilities.

One of the downfalls to working at home might involve having to pick up your own work space and even having to do your own dishes (the horror!). Well, good news! The interns at SPUR love to clean and do dishes. We make sure your space always looks 100%. So that when you come in to work, you’re greeted with a dust/clutter free desk, a clean kitchen to eat lunch in, and sparkling dishes!

Even with all of that in mind, there are still a variety of things any SPUR intern can do for you. It’s why the interns are here manning the front desk. If you have any reservations about working at SPUR, or are a SPUR member afraid to ask an intern for some help, I hope this little spiel about why you should use interns alleviates some of those concerns.
