Has Spring finally Sprung? For Real Estate the answer is “kind of”.

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) does predict that existing home sales will rise around 7-8% this Spring compared to a year ago. So, yes, we are seeing a pick-up in the marketplace.  However, a shortage of homes on the market will limit the sales during this selling season.

“There are far more buyers than there are sellers on the market. We would have a huge boom spurred by low interest rates if there were more inventory on the market.” Glenn Kelman, CEO of Redfin.

The supply of homes is 17% below last year ago according to NAR data.

Home prices are rising, nationally 11%. (CNBC  4/22/13) This is the biggest increase since November 2005 which is motivating news for both buyers and sellers.
