Northfield Youth Choirs Helps Kids 'Find Their Voices'

Northfield Youth Choirs is in its 26th year of helping local youth 'find their voices.'

All three of my kids have been involved with the Northfield Youth Choirs; the older two have participated for a combined 19 years! I’ve served on the NYC board for the past few years because I believe so strongly in our mission, which is this: every child can sing, and every child should sing.

The NYC motto, “Find Your Voice,” is meaningful because what these young people learn goes beyond singing; they are developing skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

And that’s where you come in. NYC keeps its tuition as low as possible, and we don’t turn anyone away. But that means our need for scholarship money is great. Your tax-deductible contributions make it possible for us to serve all kids in grades K-12 who are eager to find their voices.

As Yo-Yo Ma has said, “When you learn something from people, or from a culture, you accept it as a gift, and it is your lifelong commitment to preserve it and build on it.” Please consider making a gift on Give to the Max day that will help the Northfield Youth Choirs build on its commitment to serve community youth; then, join us in celebration at the NYC Winter Concert on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at Carleton College’s Skinner Chapel.
