We are all wounded warriors

This Saturday is the International Day of Peace. There will be a ceremony in Bridge Square at 2 p.m. to honor the Hope of all Human hearts.

The best way to" support our troops" is to stop sending them to war.
What we are presently doing is something like feeding a child nothing but sugar, and then when he contracts diabetes, making a big extravagant (albeit compassionate) effort to cure or treat the illness.
We have to stop creating the unnecessary disease of war. We should also make sure our veterans have whatever they need including healthcare, jobs, education, and housing.
But the best thing we can give them is the opportunity to make something valuable of their Lives without having to go to war first. No human being should have to experience the things that we ask them to  on behalf of our politics and the massive profits of our military industrial complex.
I absolutely agree that we have the right to defend ourselves, but that could be done with a military about half the size of our present one !
War should be the absolute last resort. We should not be profiting from the death and suffering of innocent children all over the world.
There are so many things we could enlist our young women and men to do to serve our country, putting them to work in so many ways that would uplift and empower them, and our society, in ways that would not wound. We could put them to work on the American Dream (like rebuilding infrasructure) to help our beloved country live up to it's true potential of "Life liberty and the pursuit of Happiness  for all. Blessed be the Peace Makers. We will never be free until we break the chains of fear, and let go of the notion that the love of money is worth more the Lives of our children.  Peace, Jon
