T.J. Stiles to Speak at the Northfield Historical Society

Pulitzer Prize recipient and Carleton Graduate, T.J. Stiles to speak at the Northfield Historical Society on Thursday.

2010 Pulitzer Prize recipient and 1986 graduate of Carleton College T.J. Stiles will speak at the on Thursday, June 16, at 8 p.m. (after the bank raid) as part of the Taste of Northfield.  Stiles presentation is titled James vs Ames: How the two visions of America collided at the Northfield Bank Robbery.

Stiles is the author of The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt, winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for biography and 2009 National Book Award for nonfiction, and Jesse James: Last Rebel of the Civil War winner of the Ambassador Book Award and the Peter Seaborg Award for Civil War Scholarship.

The presentation will start after a bank raid re-enactment by the James-Younger Gang that is slated to start at 7 p.m.  You can check out the rest of the Taste of Northfield Events here.
