Give to the Max for HOPE Center

The HOPE Center wants you to Give to the Max!

Give to the Max Day is quickly becoming one of my favorite days each year.

To me it is so exciting to see an entire state band together and put donations towards efforts and programs they value.  One of the values I treasure the most here in Minnesota is the support for arts, education, social programs and the idea that we are in this together.

It is inspiring to see Facebook feeds light up with people donating and watching the total increase on the GiveMN page.  Last year we outdonated the entire nation- that is the spirit of Minnesota, the spirit that builds community, the spirit that helps myself and the other advocates at HOPE Center continue to provide services day in and day out.

The mission of HOPE Center is to create zero tolerance for sexual and domestic violence through Healing, Outreach, Prevention and Education. Through innovative programming, we offer direct support to victims of violence in Rice County, collaborative support to other organizations that serve victims, and educational support to the entire community.

Here is how your donation helps:

$ 25 provides 2 hours of advocacy

$ 50 provides one night of safe housing for a woman and her children

$ 100 keeps the lights on, the computers running and the phones open for a day

$ 300 phone bill for 1 month- Keeping our Safeline Operating 24/7

$ 500 Laptop to provide presentations to community members and groups/or 1 week rent

At the HOPE Center 55% of our funding comes from the state Office of Justice Programs and about 15% of our funding comes from donors like you.  This year state grants were cut dramatically and service providers across the state lost funding.  Here at HOPE Center we lost 27% of our state funding, resulting in a deficit of approximately $35,000. The remaining 30% is raised from the Northfield and Faribault United Ways, WINGS [Women in Northfield Giving Support], the Northfield Area Foundation, fees and fines from perpetrators and other small grants that I apply for through out the year.

This year more than ever your support is critical.

Your donation helps to provide a caring ear for someone in the midst of crisis, a hand to hold for someone who is navigating the court system, a voice on the other end of the phone letting them know that even in the darkest moments before the dawn breaks, that they are not alone.  Please join us in holding the vision of a violence-free Rice County and make one more step towards a safer community.

We thank you in advance for your support!
