 Featured Food Artisan: Katrina Karlsen

When Katrina Karlsen moved to Minnesota, she was told by friends she’d find lots of kindred spirits in Northfield. Karlsen is Norwegian and is thrilled to have found a fast following among the area’s many Scandinavian travelers and descendants for her family recipes including fyrstekake, cardamom rolls, Swedish tea rolls, Danishes, lefse and other Scandinavian fare. A highlight is her traditional tiered wedding cake, kransekake, which can be ordered at vikingbaker@gmail.com. Watch for Scandinavian Christmas cookies when the Fair moves to the Armory in November.

 Featured Artist: David Peterson

David Peterson will demonstrate his wood-turning skills at his booth this Saturday. Peterson creates shapes spontaneously at the lathe. His works are rendered from common native species or reclaimed from discarded wood and remade into functional and decorative pieces that show off the beauty of the wood.  Musical Highlights: Faribault brass band plus Bonnie and the Clydes

Bonnie and the Clydes (www.bonnieandtheclydes.com) will arrive in full force this Saturday. Clydes’ member Bill McGrath, a Fair regular, brings his band including Scott McMillan and Bonnie Jean Flom, playing classic rock and folk tunes. In addition, Riverwalk Market Fair welcomes back Alexander's Ragtime Brass from Faribault featuring two trumpets, a French horn, a valve trombone and a tuba, and plays music ranging from the Baroque period to modern jazz.

 Friend of the Market: WINGS

Women in Northfield Giving Support, also called WINGS, will be at the Fair to tell visitors about the important work their foundation does. WINGS is a grassroots network of 300 women who donate to nonprofits to improve the lives of women and children in Northfield. Visit them at www.wings-mn.org.

 Featured Business: Eco Gardens

Eco Gardens is a unique garden shop that offers an intimate experience for eco-conscious growers in the local community. The owners value sharing ideas with customers, experimenting and constantly learning to ensure an engaging experience and healthy selections. Stop by the Welcome Tent for a free promotional item.
