Esse, Oney Comment on Special Election Outcome

Jessica Peterson-White was officially elected last week to finish the term of Patrick Ganey.

Jessica Peterson White was officially elected to the Northfield City Council last week, defeating Rick Esse and Scott Oney, and taking home nearly 75 percent of all the votes.

Following the outcome, the following statements were given toNorthfield Patch:

Esse: "I wish the outcome had been different, but I congratulate Jessica on her hard-fought win. I may consider a run next year. I believe a greater turnout would have benefited me. Thank you to my supporters."

Oney: "I entered the race because I thought it was important to give voters an alternative to the big-government messages of the other two candidates. I'm glad to have had an opportunity to change the conversation here in Northfield, if not the outcome of the election."

Peterson White was appointed by the council last fall following the resignation of Patrick Ganey. She will now finish out his term, and the seat will be up for election next fall.
