(UPDATED) Fourth of July: What's Open, What's Closed in Northfield

The Fourth of July typically is a day of picnicking, playing outdoors and watching fireworks.

It isn’t known for being a work day.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES

Because the Fourth of July is a federal holiday, government offices are closed. Here is a list of local government closings:

Northfield City Offices

Northfield Public Library (The library’s online services are available, though.)

Northfield Public Schools Community Services Offices

• Rice County government offices

• Dakota County government offices

United States Post Office

• Most banks are closed, as the Fourth of July is considered a bank holiday. The TCF Bank branch at Cub Foods is scheduled to be open.

BUSINESSES

Many private businesses are traditionally closed on the Fourth of July, so be sure to click on our Business tab to get their phone number and call before you head out.

Here is a list of businesses that sent Patch information about Fourth of July plans:

• Gopher garage door service will be open for business 9-5. Phone numbers: 651-463-4967, 507-744-3479 .

• The Tavern of Northfield will be open from 6:30am - 2:00pm. The Ole Store Restaurant will be closed.

• Just Food Co-op will be open REGULAR hours! We will also have our grill going from 11-1 - so stop in for lunch and let us do the grilling for you!
