Twin Cities Haunted House Guide

Want to take the family to see some scares at a local haunted house? Check out our handy haunted house guide for event times, features and locations!

Mill Town Haunt
When: 6-10 p.m. Fri. Oct. 26, Sat. Oct. 27, Wed. Oct. 31
Where: 8 West Ave., Dundas (County Road 1 through downtown Dundas)
Why: This event serves as an annual fundraiser for the Northfield EMS Explorer Post and food drive for the Northfield Food Shelf.
Price: Admission to the haunted house is a recommendation donation of $1 (or more) per person or one non-perishable food item.

Blackout, Nickelodeon Universe, Mall of America, Bloomington
When: 5-10 p.m. Oct. 19-20, 26-27
Where: Mall of America, 5000 Center Court, Bloomington
Why: There will be black-lighting, fog effects, a live DJ, costume contests and no lights on rides. The first 1,000 people to buy ride tickets will receive a treat bag.
Price: $19.99 for a wristband and $3 for a flashing bracelet

Frightmares at Buck Hill, Burnsville
When: 7 p.m. Oct. 12-13, 17-21, 25-28
Where: 15400 Buck Hill Road, Burnsville
Why: Live music and several attractions, including “The Inferno,” “Fright Factory” and “The Bellharm Lovejoy Asylum.”
Price: $18 on Sundays and $20 on Wednesdays through Saturdays

Scream Town, Chaska
When: Oct. 12, 13*, 18, 19*, 20*, 26*, 27*, 28
Ticket booths and gates open at 6:30 p.m., and attractions open at 7 p.m.
*=peak nights, during which more people are expected
Where: 7410 Highway 212, Chaska
Why: There is a haunted corn maze and five haunted attractions, including “Circus Asylum,” “Redneck Resort” and “Rabid Alley.”
Price: See the website for ticket information. Tickets can only be purchased with cash at the gate.

"Halloween at the Art Park", Caponi Art Park, Eagan
When: 
1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 27
Where: 1220 Diffley Road, Eagan
Why: Take a short trick-or-treat tour of some of the Art Park's spooky sculptures with a costumed guide, play in a giant pile of leaves, and make a Halloween craft.
Price: $5 suggested donation

The Haunted Basement, The Soap Factory, Minneapolis
This event now is sold out. Tickets for 2013 go on sale in August.


When: Check facebook for times.
Where: 5510 Mahoney Avenue, Minnetonka
Why: The Greystone Manor, returning for its 16th year, is a family-run haunted house with the goal of collecting donations for the local food shelf.
Price: Free with a non-perishable donation.

Trail of Terror, Shakopee
When: 7-11 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays until Oct. 28
Where: 3525 145th Street West, Shakopee
Why: There is a mile-long haunted walk in the woods, a haunted maze and several attractions, including “Grubbs Pest Control,” “Crystal Caverns” and “Chuckles Pizzeria.”
Price: See the website for ticket information. Discount tickets are available at Walgreens and Papa Murphy’s.

ValleySCARE!, Shakopee
When: 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays and 12 p.m. to midnight Saturdays until Oct. 27
Where: One Valleyfair Drive, Shakopee, MN 55379
Why: There are nine haunted attractions, rides, mazes and a “Fright Feast.” “Planet Snoopy” is open during the day for all ages.

Shadows and Spirits of the State Capitol, St. Paul
When: 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 18-20, Oct. 25-27
Where: 345 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul
Why: Visitors will meet actors dressed as “spirits” from Minnesota’s history.
Price: $12 for adults, $11 for seniors and college students, $9 for children ages 6-17; there is a $2 discount for Minnesota Historical Society members.

Victorian Ghost Stories, James J. Hill House, St. Paul
When: 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20-21, 27-28, 31
Where: 240 Summit Avenue, St. Paul
Why: Costumed actors will read ghost stories from Edgar Allen Poe, Edith Wharton and The Brothers Grimm.
Price: $12, or $10 for Minnesota Historical Society members
