Saving Froggy Bottoms Pub

Employees, patrons and friends worked to save the Northfield pub from financial disaster on Saturday afternoon.

Employees, patrons and friends of Froggy Bottoms River Pub worked Saturday afternoon to save the restaurant from another financial disaster.

The pub, on the west bank of the Cannon River in downtown Northfield, was destroyed by record flooding in September 2010.

Early Saturday afternoon, water about ankle deep was covering the floor of the pub, and water was spilling into the patio from the river.

Several sump pumps were blasting water from the interior of the pub back into the river as sandbaggers worked to build a retaining wall on the patio.

Because the Riverwalk was flooded to the rear entrance to the pub, sandbaggers delivered sandbags by canoe.
