North Oak Residents Displaced by Flood

Most of the impacted residents are staying with relatives, while the rest are spending the night at local motels.

Residents of about a dozen units at North Oak Apartments on Northfield’s north side were displaced because of Saturday’s flooding.

All but a handful of residents were able to find shelter with family and friends, an American Red Cross volunteer assisting at the Spring Street apartment complex said Saturday afternoon.

Those without shelter will be spending the night at local motels.

Water entered apartments on the first floor Saturday morning. A portion of a parking lot and a yard behind the building still were covered with water mid-afternoon Saturday.

Residents were seen removing their belongings from the affected building Saturday afternoon. Employees of Rainbow International Restoration were at the building beginning the cleaning process.
