Save the Northfield Post Office! Sign the Online Petition

Do you support keeping Northfield's historic downtown post office open? If so, please add your name to the comment stream at the end of the article.

Editors note: After it was that the USPS was considering closing Northfield's downtown post office, residents approached Northfield Patch to host a petition that residents could sign to make the federal government aware of their sentiments.

We, as Northfield residents, stand strongly opposed to the consideration of the United States Postal Service (USPS) to close the downtown Northfield Post Office.

The downtown post office has been at its current location since 1936 and has become as much a symbol of Northfield as anything else in our community.

It is understood that all business pertaining to the post office would move to the carrier annex at the south end of Northfield, leaving downtown with no postal services.

Businesses located near the current post office would be robbed of the convenience of its location, as would Northfield residents who are accustomed to using it daily.

We, the undersigned, strongly urge the USPS to reconsider this decision.

Sincerely,

Residents of Northfield
