UPDATE FRIDAY, OCT. 5—CakeWalk opened for business at 8 a.m. Friday.
Hours of business are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
A new bakery touting cakes, cookies and coffee of the gourmet kind is set to open Friday in downtown Northfield.
The new shop, called CakeWalk Custom Cakes & Dessert Bar, is in the former Pan Pan Café space at 303 Division St. S.
Co-owners Teara Myers and Jody Breathwaite have been talking about opening up their own bakery “for years,” Myers told Patch. The two met at Byerly’s, where they were both pastry chefs.
When the calendar flipped to 2012, the two friends, who had a combined 28 years at Bylery’s, decided it was time to venture out on their own.
CakeWalk will offer a variety of cupcakes, cookies, bars, European pastries and gourmet coffee, Myers said.
A grand opening is scheduled for Oct. 13.
“We’re very excited,” Myers said.
CakeWalk will also create custom cakes and wedding cakes.
