The day has finally arrived.

After a few construction delays, Scott LaMotte, co-owner of the new Carbone’s Pizza and Sports Bar, said the establishment should open at 3 p.m. today (Thursday).

LaMotte had hoped to open 5 p.m. Wednesday, but was delayed because some equipment kept from the had to be rewired to pass inspection. LaMotte said another inspection is scheduled for early this afternoon.

"It’s been a pretty hectic few weeks there," LaMotte, who also co-owns the Burnsville Carbone's, told Patch.

The restaurant was originally scheduled to open Aug. 1.

A grand opening is scheduled for the weekend after Defeat of Jesse James Days. Carbone's will run several promotions for the grand opening, LaMotte said, including a visit from the Coors Light Girls.

In the meantime, he said Carbone's will run its daily specials, which includes two-for-one on drinks from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday and half-price appetizers from 3-7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday.

“We’re going to have a place that has some nice TVs, a nice granite countertop bar, a good atmosphere and fun for everyone—families, after work, sports games," LaMotte said. He said Carbone's will have the NFL package for football enthusiasts looking for a place to watch the game.

According to its website, Carbone’s will feature a menu consisting of pizza, wings, ribs, burgers, pasta, sandwiches and wraps.

“We’re going to be more than a place for pizza,” LaMotte said. “We have lots of great food, and we’re bringing something Northfield really doesn’t have right now—a sports bar.”
