Crisis Pregnancy Center Surprised with an Early Christmas Gift

Liz Blanchard from the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Northfield (CPC) received an unexpected early Christmas gift on Sunday morning from the people of CANVAS Church in Northfield.  

Liz was invited by CANVAS Pastors Jon Hohm and Jeff Wendt to come and share with the congregation during the December 16 service about the work of the CPC.  Little did she know what awaited her behind the black curtains that line the lobby at Northfield High School where CANVAS Church meets each week.  

After giving her presentation to the church Pastor Jon told Liz that over the previous six weeks the people of CANVAS Church had been praying for her.  They had also been busy buying and preparing secret gifts for the CPC as part of what CANVAS Church called its Hope Initiative.  

Pastor Jon gave Liz with a huge check written out for $2,000 dollars, which was just the beginning of the surprises to follow.  “Elves” in the church began running down the auditorium aisles with all kinds of items to be used at the CPC, including pack-n-plays filled with diapers, blankets, strollers, baby clothes, bottles, and all kinds of toys.

As part of the gathered people of God in Northfield, CANVAS Church understands it has been blessed by God to be a blessing to others.  This includes the desire to play a role in making the community a great place to live.  Partnering with the CPC this Christmas season was an exciting way to make a contribution to the betterment of Northfield, and a way to bless those who may be feeling marginalized or lonely during the holidays.
