UPDATED: Winter Storm Warning in Effect for Northfield, Much of Minnesota

Parts of Minnesota could see more than 1 foot of snow depending on where the impending storm hits. How much snow do you want?

A winter storm warning is in effect for Northfield and much of southern and central Minnesota for the next few days, according to the National Weather Service. A blizzard warning is in effect for western Minnesota.

Heavy snow is expected to move into Minnesota on Tuesday and last through Wednesday.

Weather models are predicting more than 1 foot of snow could fall in areas of Minnesota, but with the storm still more than a day out, it's hard to predict where will get hit the hardest—or at all.

Currently, the storm is tracking to hit hardest north of the Twin Cities, with Northfield predicted to get up to 3 inches of snow. 

As midnight approaches tomorrow, the snow will shift into a freezing rain and sleet, then rain and sleet, and then snow and sleet after 3 a.m. Wednesday. All the while, gusts could reach 30 mph, according to the NWS.

There's a chance of snow for the remainder of the week.
