Northfield VFW Commander Bill Murphy Earns Title of All State Post Commander
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4393 Commander Bill Murphy earns title of All State Post Commander at the Department of Mn VFW State Convention.
On Friday, June 22, at 8:00 AM at the Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester MN, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of MN started their annual awards ceremony during the state convention, which includes the naming of the All State Commanders Team.
To become an All State Commander is no easy task. Becoming an All State Commander means you accomplished many things in Community Service, as well as post membership. One of the main requirements is that the Post membership be at 100% or better by the end of March in the command year, which runs from July to June. So, I am happy to say that my 2011-2012 Membership is 100.46% with 220 Members of the Northfield Veterans of Foreign Wars. An increase of 1 over previous years membership total. Other requirements for All State Commander include attending all district meetings, reporting and completing community service, participating in VFW programs like, Voice of Democracy, Patriot's Pen, Scouting and the Buddy Poppy Program.
Needless to say, thanks to the support of the members of VFW 4393, and the great community of Northfield, I accomplished what it took to get the Honor of All State Commander.

The Northfield Veterans of Foreign Wars has now had 4 Commanders named to the All State team, including myself, Charlie Wells, Paul McGuire and Larry Turner. With me Friday morning was the last recipient, Charlie Wells who earned the title during his second time as a post commander in 2004-2005. It has been his mentorship and guidance that helped me get that same honor.
