Paper Bag Bandit Rides Again

A melodrama, The Paper Bag Bandit Rides Again, will be performed by the Encore Players at the Northfield Senior Center (NSC), on Saturday, October 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 9 at 2 p.m.  The cast of the play includes many well known Northfield performers: Myrna Johnson is playing Diamond Dolly, a glamorous villainess; Don Forsberg is the True Villain, “Sludge Slyskull”; Dan Jorgensen portrays the earnest hero, Sheriff Buzz Saw; Chris Ellison is the charming but dimwitted heroine, Clementine.  The new NSC stage, purchased last spring with grant support from the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council, will be filled with wonderful characters, played by Lynne Pederson, Lin Bruce, Sharon Gates-Hull, Nancy Ashmore, Evelyn Burry, Marie Gery, Marilyn Kelley, Bob Bruce, Dick Zawacki, Susan Jorgensen, Kitty Runzheimer, Peggy Eggert, and Phyllis Borchert.

The play will be underscored by Marc Robinson with piano music typical of this style of theater. Soprano Donna May will sing two songs of the period.

The melodrama will be followed by homemade desserts. Tickets are $10, and may be purchased at the Senior Center, 1651 Jefferson Pkwy, or by phone with a credit card, 507-664-3700.
