Lake Wobegon® Brass Band

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m., when the Lake Wobegon® Brass Band performs at First United Church of Christ, 300 Union St., Northfield (firstucc.org). Now starting their 21st season, the 30 members of the Band play music of all styles and periods. They have performed on A Prairie Home Companion, recorded five CDs, and made two tours of England. Their concert at First UCC will include music of J.S. Bach (the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor), William Billings, Drew Fennell, and Philip Sparke. In addition, the noted radio icon Charlie Boone of WCCO fame will be on hand to narrate Aaron Copland’s stirring Lincoln Portrait.

The concert begins at 7:00. Tickets ($15) are available in advance at the church office and at Coldwell Banker (419 Division St.) and at the door on the night of the concert.

(LAKE WOBEGON® is used by permission of Garrison Keillor and Minnesota Public Radio. The Lake Wobegon® Brass Band has no official affiliation with A Prairie Home Companion®.)
