Final weekend - Dark at the Top of the Stairs

1920s Oklahoma.  the automobile is replacing the horse, causing Rubin Flood to lose his job as a traveling harness salesman.  His wife, Cora, makes unrealistic demands of him, his shy daughter prepares for a dance, and his son has trouble with bullies.  Rubin tries to comfort himself with a childhood friend who is believed to be a loose woman, sparking rumors of an affair.  A tragic event brings all their fears into focus, and they all find the strength to face the dark at the top of the stairs in this moving drama by William Inge.

 The Dark at the Top of the Stairs is directed by Terry Allen.  A newcomer to the Northfield area, Dr. Allen has taught college-level theater classes and directed plays at high schools, colleges, and community theaters for over thirty years.  This show features the acting talents of Elizabeth Buckheit, Felicia Crosby, Susan Dunhaupt, Alison Haider, Rolf Kragseth, Steven Pfahning, Holden Sauve, Rob Schanilec, and Paul Wehling.

 Performances of this play will be April 15 and 16 at 7:30pm and April 17 at 2:00pm in the Northfield Arts Guild’s Theater on 411 W 3rd St.  Tickets are available at the Arts Guild’s Center for the Arts, by telephone at 507-645-8877, or online at www.northfieldartsguild.org.  The the performance on Friday, April 15th will be ASL interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing.  If you require ASL interpretation, please let the office know when you order tickets.
