In January 2010 Bruce completed 33 radiation treatments for cancer in his tonsils. He was then cancer-free and healthy until a biopsy of his tongue taken at a 6 month checkup at the beginning of this July came back positive. After several visits with several doctors to determine how to treat his cancer it was determined that his only option is to have the cancerous lesion on his tongue surgically removed. Recovery time and ... lasting effects of surgery in this area vary widely. One thing is for sure though; he will be out of work for about 2 months. This comes at a time when he just started to work a second job to make ends meet.

Bruce Jensen is 57 years old and has lived in the Northfield Community for the last 24 years. He works at Cardinal Glass and Holiday Gas Station in Northfield, is an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and is also an active member of the Northfield Musical community. His passion is to play the string bass, and often plays at the Riverwalk Market, Contented Cow, the Tavern as well as other locations. He is also a devoted husband and involved parent to his three children ages 22, 19 and 16 who all live/work/attend school in the Northfield area.

Please help improve this man’s second recovery from cancer by decreasing the financial burden of medical bills and general financial stress from an inability to work. Many studies have shown that healing is quicker and more effective when the patient reports less stress, as a community we can help support Bruce through his recovery by our presence at this event and money donations to decrease financial stress.
