The New Year will be rung in with a bit of a chill—and it has nothing to do with your beverage of choice.
A wind chill advisory goes into effect 10 p.m. Monday and runs through 9 a.m. Tuesday. Included in the advisory is Northfield, Rice County and much of Minnesota.
The National Weather Service predicts that wind chill values could dip to minus 30 overnight.
From the NWS:
A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors ... make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
