Northfield Library Launches New Blog—“The Reader’s Corner”

You can now get more help to find what you're looking for.

Did you know that helping a reader find an appealing book or author is an important question for librarians at the Northfield Public Library?  Library users often ask questions like, “Can you help me find a good book to read?” or “I read all the books by this author. Are there other others I might like?” or “Can you help me select a good book for my book group?”

With a big assist from student worker Katherine Rieck, librarians Joan Ennis and Debby Nitz have created a new blog titled “The Reader’s Corner” to assist library users in discovering new books and authors online.

Well-known librarian and author of Book Lust, Nancy Pearl, has inspired the blog.

She uses the concept of doorways to enter a book. Readers enter a book either through characters, setting, language, or plot, pace and story. If a reader understands what appeals to them, they can find the books that they will enjoy the most. We hope our blog will help readers find books to read for themselves and for their book groups. Nancy Pearl’s website and many other resources are listed in Reader’s Corner.
