Northfield Arts Guild Gallery to Feature Two Emerging Painters

The guild will hold an opening ceremony Jan. 10, 2014.

The Northfield Arts Guild will feature two emerging painters in the Main Gallery for the next month.

In the exhibit entitled "The Effort of Remaining Present," the work of painters Anda Tanaka and Justina Ny will be on display, according to a Northfield Arts Guild release:

As Anda Tanaka says, “Making art is an obsessive, all-consuming effort.  The processes involved are often repetitive, but always expressive. I find that my attachments to time and to specific thoughts disappear.” This statement is born out by the rich, differentiated surfaces of Anda’s and Justina’s work. With paintings that are referential and abstract, deeply pigmented and carefully detailed, the all-consuming effort of these young artists is immediately perceived. The exhibition is a varied display of form that includes prints, paintings, and ceramics.

Other artists' work will be featured in auxiliary galleries, and those artists include: Glynnis Lessing, Holly and David Grimsrud, Adair Soderholm, and Richard Birger.

An opening ceremony is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Jan. 10, 2014. The exhibit will remain open until Feb. 8. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
