Ward 4 Filing Closes; Trio to Seek City Council Seat

Candidates have until Thursday to file an Affidavit of Withdrawal to be removed from the ballot.

This fall’s Northfield City Council Ward 4 special election will be a three-person race.

Filing for the special election, which will decide who will represent Ward 4 for the next year, closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Submitting candidacy papers to City Clerk Deb LIttle during the two-week filing period were:

• Richard Esse, 109 Orchard St. N.
• Scott Oney, 705 Union St.
• Jessica Peterson White, 507 Washington St.

If they change their minds about seeking public office, candidates have until 5 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 15), to file an Affidavit of Withdrawal to be removed from the ballot.

Peterson White currently represents Ward 4 on the council. Last fall, she was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Patrick Ganey, who was elected in 2010.

After this fall’s election, the Ward 4 seat again will be up for election in November 2014.
