INVITATION TO YOUNG SCULPTORS’

PUBLIC SCULPTURE OPENING

You are cordially invited to the third annual Young Sculptors public sculpture "unveiling" at the corner of 3rd St. and Division St.  This event will take place in front of the Northfield Carnegie Library on Friday, May 16 at 6:00 PM. Twelve Northfield High School students assisted professional glass artist, Rick Swearer, and his assistant, Carleton 5th year Art Apprentice, Eliza Dennis, in creating this new public sculpture entitled “Octopus Garden” which will be located in this prominent place for one year. The previously displayed Young Sculptors’ public sculpture, which was created by students with the assistance of artist Rafael Estrella, has been moved to the high school and will be sited in a courtyard and added to the Northfield High School outdoor sculpture garden. Hundreds of high school students pass by the courtyard sculpture garden every day as they make their way to class.

We hope you will come to this celebration to meet artist Rick Swearer and the amazing students who have had a part in creating Northfield’s newest public sculpture!
