Community Corner

April 24th is Poem in Your Pocket Day!

In celebration of Poem in Your Pocket Day, Northfield's Arts and Culture Commission has placed boxes of poetry in twelve businesses and organizations across the community.  Included in the collection of poems in each box are the winning entries in Northfield’s Sidewalk Poetry competition. You are invited to take some poems and share them with others.  The boxes will remain in place through the end of April – National Poetry Month.

Begun in 2002 by the Office of Mayor Bloomberg of New York City, in 2008 the Academy of American Poets embraced the Poem in Your Pocket project as a national endeavor.  Schools, communities, libraries, and a wide range of organizations across the country now celebrate poetry in this exciting way, and Northfield is one of them!
