Reduce Waste By Recycling Your Holiday Lights

Rice County gives tips on reducing waste during the holiday season.

Now that the holiday season is upon us, household waste will increase by 25 percent, according to Rice County.

In an effort to reduce that 25 percent increase, Rice County will be providing weekly tips. This week's tip focuses on recycling holiday lights.

If you're looking to get rid of holiday lights, the following are drop-off locations in and near Northfield:

  • Rice County Recycling Center/Landfill located at 3800 145th St. E. in Dundas;
  • Rice County Government Services Building located at 320 Third St. NW in Faribault;
  • ACE Hardware stores in Northfield (670 Water St. S.) and Faribault (421 Second Ave. NW).

Lights can be dropped off between now and Jan. 15, 2014. The lights will be recycled through the Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM).
