Carleton has been a tenant at 200 Division St. since 2005. The building, formerly known as the Medical Arts Building, houses many businesses, including KYMN Radio and Get Fit 24/7.
A week after it was announced that Carleton College would purchase the 200 Division St. building in downtown Northfield, Patch has obtained a draft PDF showing who would move to the downtown space. According to a PDF shared with Carleton staff and faculty, the office space would accommodate 35 staff members of the college's Division of External Relations. The PDF, which is attached to this post, also maps out where the rest of the staffers would be located. Rumors were swirling that Froggy Bottoms was closing, but owner Laurie Hoheisel said that's far from the truth.
Seven months after reopening, Froggy Bottoms River Pub has new ownership—kind of. The Froggy Ladies, who resurrected the pub after it closed following the 100-year flood in the fall of 2010, have split, according to Laurie Hoheisel, one half of the former duo. Hoheisel is now Froggy's sole proprietor, having bought out partner Shannon Mills. A deal that made Hoheisel the sole owner of Froggy Bottoms was completed on Friday. As rumor of the buyout made its way through Northfield the past few weeks, Hoheisel said there was a misconception that Froggy Bottoms was closing, which she said is far from the truth. “I have heard it from customers, people on the street and college students,” Hoheisel told Patch. But it’s just another chapter in the …

The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota is urging consumers and donors to be on the lookout for deals that seem too good to be true, and also for disreputable charities.
Memorial Day is a time to honor those who serve our country and remember those who have died in service. But sadly, it has also become an opportunity for scammers to target active service members and elderly veterans. The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota (BBB) is urging consumers and donors to be on the lookout for deals that seem too good to be true, and also for disreputable charities. “The unique lifestyle of our service members makes them prime targets for scammers,” says Dana Badgerow, President and CEO of the BBB. “It’s imperative that we educate our service members and ensure that the support we give to them equals the effort they make every day on behalf of us.” “Donors also need to watch out for questionable …

Garbage trucks stood at the ready at the city maintenance facility Saturday morning for the second of two city clean-up days this spring.
Northfielders lightened their loads at the city’s maintenance facility on Riverview Drive Saturday morning. The city’s second—and final—clean-up day of the spring was conducted Saturday, and residents brought carloads, truckloads and trailer-loads of refuse to be disposed of in Waste Management garbage trucks and recycling bins. Waste Management employees, wearing fluorescent yellow vests, stood at the ready to empty garbage cans and the contents of pickup truck beds into the fleet of trucks. Residents were able to drop off most of their junk free of charge. However, they paid fees for items like appliances, computers, TVs and tires. One Waste Management worker said the number of residents participating in Saturday’s clean-up seemed fewer …

Scores of residents take part in the sixth annual event in downtown Northfield.
Hospitality and bargains greeted scores of women—and a a fair share of men—taking part in the sixth annual Girls Nite Out event in downtown Northfield Friday night. Despite threatening skies, a few retailers set their goods outside to welcome shoppers. From 5 to 9 p.m., participants were treated to in-store discounts, dining specials, refreshments and, in some cases, massages and flowers. After the downtown retailers closed, those who purchased GNO tickets were invited to a party at The Grand Event Center. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will donated to Ruth’s House in Faribault.
